"Strength and wisdom are not opposing values" Former President Bill Clinton, 7/26/2004

Current Song: Democratic National Convention
Current Rant: The fact that for the past 4 years, we've been without good speeches
Current Obsession: the DNC

All I can say is WOW. I shouldn't be obsessed, but I am. The plan is never to be obsessed, but it always happens with one thing or another. This year the obsession is the Democratic National Convention.

Last night once I was back from the barn, I flipped through the TV I caught the end of Hillary Clinton's speech and then saw Bill's. Once again, all I can say is WOW, that man can speak.

Anyway, following the speech and a bunch of other discussions and stuff that were on MSNBC following the convention, I headed over to C-Span where they were re-running all of the evening's major speeches. I caught the last 3/4 of Gore's speech which was quite good. He's always been one who could deliver a speech and this speech was no different. Next it was Jimmy Carter's speech and while I wasn't quite as captivated as I was with Gore's, I did enjoy the speech quite a bit. Finally it was time for the Clinton's (keep in mind it was past 12:30) and damn did they deliver.

Look, I'm by no means a fan of Hillary Clinton. She might be one who many believe should become president at somepoint in the future and yeah it probably would be nice if a female could become president, and yes, I'm all for that, I just don't feel that Hillary Clinton is the right lady (though if she becoming president would thus allow for Bill to give more speeches, well, maybe it wouldn't be that bad of an idea... haha). I think that there are far better candidates for the job, both male and female. But hey, that's me. Anyway to my point, even though I'm not a fan of Hillary, her 11 minutes speech was quite good, though the real show last night was Bill Clinton!

All I can say is that Bill Clinton's speech last night was simply amazing. It's not suprising that he became president and hell, if he were able to run again, I'd vote for him, but that's me. That man can not only deliver a speech, he can deliver on eloquently. If you haven't heard last night speech, I highly urge you to go to http://c-span.org and view the video to his speech. Or, you can read it at http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1090931845459_86341045

My favorite part:

Their opponents will tell you we should be afraid of John Kerry and John Edwards, because they won't stand up to the terrorists-don't you believe it. Strength and wisdom are not opposing values-they go hand in hand and John Kerry has both. His first priority will be to keep America safe. Remember the scripture: Be Not Afraid.

All I can say is THAT makes a good soundbite.

That all said, decide for yourself and vote. If you don't vote, you have no right to complain. I'm to damn liberal for my own good so obviously I'll be voting Kerry and Edwards. Yes, they're not perfect, but I like what they stand for and I trust them, I trust them far more than I trust the current administration.
