i don't like mondays

Current Song: "i don't like mondays" tori amos
Current Rant: no west wing 24/7
Current Obsession: the west wing

So I'm back being far beyond obsessed with The West Wing, damn that show is the best show ever created (minus last season being Aaron Sorkin-less). All I can say is Aaron Sorkin is a genious.

So I watched a hell of a lot of West Wing today. Bravo started re-runs of Season 4 today so I've watched that and then my Season 3 DVDs and tomorrow is a new West Wing so that's even better! Santos announces his candidacy and Josh is running his campaign! Donna better come back though or else... I can't be Josh and Donna-less. Now that I'm watching old episodes I realize that I really miss Amy. I didn't like Amy all that much then, but it ain't the same without Amy's sarcastic humor. I've become an Amy fan far too late.

Ok, so here comes the point of this massive explaination. Today's Bravo episodes were 20 Hours in America I & II. In part II, there was some sort of pipe bomb explosion at Kennison State University and people were killed and such. While the song "I Don't Like Mondays" was playing, Bartlet gave the following speech at a dinner:

"More than any time in recent history, America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek, nor did we provoke, an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite, a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of the people's strenght is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive. Forty-four people were killed a couple of hours ago at Kennison State University. Three swimmers from the men's team were killed and two others are in critical condition, when after having heard the explosion from their practice facility they ran into the fire to help get people out... ran into the fire... The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They are our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels...but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we are reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. This is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard, we will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach for the stars. God bless their memory. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America."

That is an unbelieveably amazing piece of righting which once again leads us to Aaron Sorkin is a genious. I got chills during that speech. I'm also being haunted by Tori Amos' version of the song:

i don't like mondays

i don't like mondays

the silicon chip inside her head
gets switched to overload
and nobody's gonna go to school today
she's going to make them stay at home
and daddy doesn't understand it
he always said she was as good as gold
and he can see no reason
'cause there are no reasons
what reason do you need to be shown

tell me why
i don't like mondays
tell me why
i don't like mondays
i don't like
i don't like
i don't like mondays
tell me why
i don't like mondays
i want to shoot
the whole day down
down, down, shoot it all down

all the playing stopped in the playground now
she wants to play with her toys a while
and school's out early and soon we'll be learning
the lesson today is how to die
and then the bullhorn cackles
and the captain tackles
with the problems and the how's and why's
and he can see no reason
'cause there are no reasons
what reason do you need to die, die, ohhh

tell me why
i don't like mondays
tell me why
i don't like mondays
i don't like
i don't like
i don't like mondays
tell me why
i don't like mondays
tell me why
i don't like mondays
i don't like
i don't like
i don't like mondays

ooohmmm
i don't like mondays...

i wanna to shoot
the whole day down
whole day...
whole day...
the whole day down
